Treating Amphetamine Addiction
By | October 9, 2008
A well structured rehab program is vital for treating any amphetamine addiction, Newport Coast Recovery has a lot of experience in this sense. A lot of people don’t realize that both methamphetamine and d-amphetamine (adderall, etc.) work in the brain in a very similar way - the main difference being the greater potency of methamphetamine.
Amphetamine addictions are the result of the brain’s neurochemistry being altered and the ‘reward centers’ in the brain being functionally restructured. The brain is a powerful organ which can lead individuals to do unspeakable things to satisfy the reward centers - risky behavior is an understatement.
To treat these powerful addictions it’s important to try to get the brain ‘wired’ as closely back to normal as possible. This involves addressing the reward centers which can be done through one-on-one therapy as well as lots of recreational activities and exercise.
Newport Coast Recovery has seen many clients seriously addicted to amphetmines who we have been able to help get their lives back in order, against all the odds.
