    Michael Rudolph, MD – Medical Director

    Dr. Michael Rudolph is trained in Addiction Medicine, Family Practice, General Surgery and Emergency Medicine and has been in practice for over 25 years. He currently has an office practice in Addiction Medicine and is licensed in the prescription and use of suboxone for medical opiate detoxifications. He is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and the California Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM).

    Jack Felton, MFT - Clinical Director

    Jack has over 20 years in the recovery field. His experience ranges from having developed several in-patient addiction programs to sitting on Patrick Carnes’ advisory board for sexual addiction at a Southern California in-patient facility. Jack has been the director for a residential treatment center for drug and alcohol addiction back in the early 90’s. He is most noted though, for his work on religious abuse and addiction and is the author of the best selling “Toxic Faith”. However, if you were to talk to Jack, he would tell you his most exciting work is right now. He sits in an advisory board capacity to Dr. Daniel Amen, the worlds leading expert on Spect Scan Imaging (a nuclear medical approach to brain function). Jack is well suited in supervising the integration of this cutting edge technology into our program here at Newport Coast Recovery.

    Christine McIlwain, Ed.D., MFT– Therapist

    Christine Mcllwain has been in the field of counseling and psychology for 25 years, specializing in chemical dependency, relationship/family dynamics, career development, stress management, sports psychology, peak performance and personal development. Christine has worked in numerous chemical dependence hospital programs as an inpatient therapist, outpatient therapist, and case manager. Some of these hospitals included; Doctors Hospital of Lakewood, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Long Beach Community Hospital, Starting Point, and Los Altos Medical Center. She has been licensed as a Marriage, Family Therapist since 1989 with a private practice in Newport Beach, California. Christine is certified in Hypnosis, and is also a trained EMDR Clinician, focusing on trauma work, smoking cessation, and weight management. In December 2006 she earned her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology. Christine holds California Teaching Credentials at all grade levels from the primary grades up through and including college. Currently, Christine is an instructor at National University in Costa Mesa, California where she has been teaching since 1997 in the Department of Counseling and Education.

    Erika Vargas, J.D., MFT - Therapist

    Erika has over 6 years of experience working in the behavioral health field. The primary focus of her practice has been working with individuals with addiction. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy in the treatment of addition and has particular talent for working with trauma survivors, performing family therapy, and couples counseling. She also has experience in the treatment of eating disorders and co-occurring disorders such as depression or anxiety. We love Erika’s creativity. She has the ability to have fun and make the “treatment” experience much more comfortable. In addition, Erika holds a Juris Doctor from University of Southern California and is an adjunct professor at Chapman University. The combination of her experience and extensive training as both a therapist and an educator have given her a special aptitude for grasping the underlying conflict, stresses, perceptions, distortions and self-worth issues involved with addiction.

    Eric McCoy, CATC – Case Manager, Counselor

    Eric McCoy completed his drug and alcohol studies at Cypress College and has his Associates Degree in Human Services. Eric is certified through CAADE as a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor and is pursuing his degree in Psychology. Eric has been working in the field of recovery since 2003 with a major focus on self-esteem, relapse prevention, and helping clients in finding a purpose for there lives that they can feel proud of. Eric has a real passion for helping clients learn the tools to maintain long-term sobriety, setting achievable goals, problem solving, and educating on basic life skills.

    Delores Coats, BA, CATC – GROUP FACILITATOR, LIFE COACH

    Delores Coats is a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor who brings more than fifteen years of experience working in the field of mental health and addiction to Newport Coast Recovery. She assists clients with understanding the disease of addiction and process of recovery. Delores facilitates our groups on Co-occuring disorders, helping clients understand how a secondary diagnosis can influence their recovery. After discharging from our facility, clients often work with Delores as part of their aftercare. As a Life Recovery Coach, she continues to help clients and their families develop new coping skills and life management tools in early recovery. Her quick wit, years of experience and thorough understanding of recovery makes her a valuable asset to our clients in treatment.

    Rory Talmon – Case Manger, Counselor

    Rory comes to Newport Coast Recovery with years of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. His prior experience includes counseling clients at Veterans Alcohol Rehabilitation Program’s “Harris House for Men”. He facilitates groups, lectures, and individual counsels for our clients and their families. Rory’s cognitive behavior orientation to recovery has made him a valuable asset to our program.
