Do I need to go to detox?

    By | October 9, 2008

Detox is not rehab, but it’s often necessary to go into detox before a rehab program can be started. Some individuals go into detox thinking it’s somehow equivalent to rehab, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. In detox, an individual must go through withdrawal as the chemicals leave the body. This process generally only takes a few days or so.

Rehab facilities like Newport Coast Recovery won’t allow an indivudual to enter rehab while they’re intoxicated, so we have them go to our detox facility first. If an individual is still under the influence of drugs, detox is mandatory before entering into rehab.

Detox can be a very uncomfortable process, but it is the beginning of a life changing journey. Once out of detoc, a client should be immediately placed into the rehab program since the urge to use again is still very high at this point of time.

Contact Newport Coast Recovery today - we can get you through detox and into rehab
