MEDICAL DIRECTOR---Michael Rudolph, M.D.

Dr. Michael Rudolph is trained in Addiction Medicine, Family Practice, General Surgery and Emergency Medicine and has been in practice for over 25 years. He currently has an office practice in Addiction Medicine and is licensed to perform medical opiate detoxifications. He is a member of ASAM and CSAM.

CLINICAL DIRECTOR--Mary A. O'Malley, MA

Mary O'Malley, M.A. is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine and Pepperdine University. She holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, is a credentialed Teacher, A Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Minister and Reiki Master. Mary brings over 25 years of experience working in the field of Chemical Dependency to her position as Clinical Director at NCR. In addition to her administrative duties, Mary can consistently be found facilitating groups and lectures with our clients. Her experience, compassion and sense of humor make her a valuable member of our clinical team.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR --M. Craig Jewett, C.A.T.S.

Craig has been working for this facility now for about eight years, and have been a State Licensed and Certified Addiction Treatment Specialist for five years. NCR is a very special place for him and he has put his heart and soul into the staff, the program, and most importantly, the clients. As Program Directorhe makes sure everyone here is getting the support and direction they need to grow and become a productive, caring individual that is not only an asset to society, but to the family that cares about them.
Craig started here answering phones, taking messages and doing clerical work. "Just being around the facility a lot made me feel like I was part of something, I found that I was able to easily develop a rapport with the clients, so I went back to school to get a certificate in drug and alcohol addiction counseling." Craig also completed the certification class with a 4.0 GPA and was on the Deans list for three semesters. After being a case manager here for five years, Craig is now our Program Director.

COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY --Christine McILwain, MFT, EdD

Christine has been in the field of counseling and psychology for 25 years, specializing in chemical dependency, relationship/family dynamics, career development, stress management, sports psychology, peak performance and personal development. Christine has worked in numerous chemical dependence hospital programs as an inpatient therapist, outpatient therapist, and case manager. Some of these hospitals included; Doctors Hospital of Lakewood, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Long Beach Community Hospital, Starting Point, and Los Altos Medical Center.
She has been licensed as a Marriage, Family Therapist since 1989 with a private practice in Newport Beach, California. Christine is certified in Hypnosis, and is also a trained EMDR Clinician, focusing on trauma work, smoking cessation, and weight management. In December 2006 she earned her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology. Christine holds California Teaching Credentials at all grade levels from the primary grades up through and including college. Currently, Christine is an instructor at National University in Costa Mesa, California where she has been teaching since 1997 in the Department of Counseling and Education.

CLINICAL SUPERVISOR- Jack Felton, MFT

Jack has over 20 years in the recovery field. His experience ranges from having developed several in-patient addiction programs to sitting on Patrick Carnes' advisory board for sexual addiction at a Southern California in-patient facility. Jack has been the director for a residential treatment center for drug and alcohol addiction back in the early 90's. He is most noted though, for his work on religious abuse and addiction and is the author of the best selling "Toxic Faith". However, if you were to talk to Jack, he would tell you his most exciting work is right now. He sits in an advisory board capacity to Dr. Daniel Amen, the worlds leading expert on Spect Scan Imaging (a nuclear medical approach to brain function). Jack is well suited in supervising the integration of this cutting edge technology into our program here at Newport Coast Recovery.

TWELVE STEP RECOVERY FACILITATOR - Burr Cook, C.A.S

Burr is a state certified Addiction Specialist with 17 years experience in nursing (LVN, R.N., CCRN), professionally trained in the Systemic Model of Interventions, Josephson Institute trained and certified Character Development Instructor and Hospice and Grief Counseling volunteer. Burr is responsible for many different components of Newport Coast Recovery; such as, Marketing, Admissions, Activities Co-coordinator and Surf Instructor. Burr also handles most of our intake calls so it is very likely you will speak with him when you call.

FACILITIES MANAGER --Andrew Mackie

As Facilities Manager, Andrew performs a daily multitasking job. His duties include scheduling appointments, arranging transportation, managing medications, interacting with pharmacies, contacting families, and managing intake services. In addition to all of his facilities duties, Andrew can constantly be found offering words of encouragement and wisdom to clients. His compassion, education and recovery experience make him a favored member of our team.

GROUP FACILITATOR, LIFE COACH -- Delores Coats, B.A., C.A.T.C.

Delores is a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor who brings more than ten years of experience working in the field of mental health and addiction to Newport Coast Recovery. She assists clients with understanding the disease of addiction and process of recovery. Delores facilitates our groups on Co-occuring disorders, helping clients understand how a secondary diagnosis can influence their recovery. After discharging from our facility, clients often work with Delores as part of their aftercare. As a Life Recovery Coach, she continues to help clients and their families develoop new coping skills and life management tools in early recovery. Her quick wit, years of experience and thorough understanding of recovery makes her a valuable asset to our clients in treatment.

PRIMARY THERAPIST -- Erika Vargas, J.D., MFT

Erika has over 6 years of experience working in the behavioral health field. The primary focus of her practice has been working with individuals with addiction. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy in the treatment of addition and has particular talent for working with trauma survivors, performing family therapy, and couples counseling. She also has experience in the treatment of eating disorders and co-occurring disorders such as depression or anxiety. We love Erika's creativity. She has the ability to have fun and make the "treatment" experience much more comfortable. In addition, Erika holds a Juris Doctor from University of Southern California and is an adjunct professor at Chapman University. The combination of her experience and extensive training as both a therapist and an educator have given her a special aptitude for grasping the underlying conflict, stresses, perceptions, distortions and self-worth issues involved with addiction.

CASE MANAGER, COUNSELOR -- Clay Niles, C.A.T.C.

Clay has been working in the field of addiction for over six years and graduated from Cypress College drug and alcohol studies carrying a 4.0 GPA. He holds a State Certification in Drug and Alcohol Counseling and has worked with an array of addicts. His initial start in the field of addiction was working with parolees who opted for treatment instead of being sent back to prison. He then transitioned into helping those who were placed into proposition 36 which is treatment in lieu of jail for addicts with minor legal issues. He then transitioned into Intensive Out Patient treatment working with individuals who know they have a problem with their addiction. Clay is an experience Counselor and an asset to the NCR team.

CASE MANAGER, COUNSELOR -- Don Earhart, C.A.T.C.

Mr. Earhart graduated from Saddleback College after completing his education in drug and alcohol studies. He is certified by the State of California as an addiction treatment counselor. Don is an experienced clinical team member with specialized education in cognitive behavioral therapy and anger management. Working directly with clients is where he excels. Instilling new hope for the future and helping them to find a positive direction in life. He provides clients with personalized treatment options and has proven himself as being highly adept and instrumental in motivating others to achieve and maintain ongoing recovery from addiction.

CASE MANAGER, COUNSELOR -- Eric McCoy, C.A.T.C.

Eric McCoy, C.A.T.C. completed his drug and alcohol studies at Cypress College and has his Associates Degree in Human Services. Eric is certified through CAADE as a certified addiction treatment counselor and is pursuing his degree in Psychology. Eric has been working in the field of recovery since 2003 with a major focus on self-esteem, relapse prevention, and helping clients in finding a purpose for there lives that they can feel proud of. Eric has a real passion for helping clients learn the tools to maintain long-term sobriety, setting achievable goals, problem solving, and educating on basic life skills.
